Grievance, Discipline & Sickness

Outline

It is important that all governing boards make sure that they have governors/trustees trained to deal with staffing issues should they arise. We recommend this course particularly for members of staffing/personnel committees.

Description

Governors and trustees have an important role to play in ensuring natural justice, where difficulties arise concerning staff. We are running this course to help governors and trustees to understand the implication of issues relating to staffing matters.

The course will be covering the roles of governors/trustees in disciplinary, grievance and sickness hearings. We will look at the rules of natural justice, levels of disciplinary action, how to deal with grievance against staff and the headteacher. With regard to sickness absence we will be looking at what governors/trustees need to consider when thinking about dismissals. We will also look at employment tribunals.
